This is perhaps the most rewarding aspect of my work, because it is about building confidence in your body’s ability to conceive, recognising all the positives in your life and health, and agreeing a plan to bring about changes that will enhance your fertility.
Ali taught me how to understand what my body and menstrual cycle was doing with the use of charting and helped me look at my diet and lifestyle. She gave me confidence in my body, reassurance and optimism, at a time when I felt emotionally fragile and worried that I couldn’t conceive.

For women, fertility acupuncture focuses on the menstrual cycle. Treatment is prescribed according to where you are in your cycle with the aim of encouraging a timely ovulation, a strong luteal, and a pain-free period that is neither too scanty nor too heavy. A comprehensive assessment of your health ensures we understand the relationship between fertility and general health symptoms like IBS, low back pain, and poor sleep. This helps me tailor treatment to you and create a bespoke treatment plan.
For men, the focus of fertility acupuncture is on invigorating blood flow through the pelvis and testes to improve sperm quality, using acupuncture points on the low back and abdomen. Understanding your full health picture helps me put together a treatment plan that also works to improve your general health, with attention to symptoms like shoulder tension, headache and low energy. It is far less common for men to seek help even though there is evidence acupuncture and lifestyle changes can have a powerful effect on men’s fertility and struggling to conceive is stressful for men too.
Me and my partner went to see Ali for acupuncture for infertility. From a male’s perspective, initially, I wasn’t sure how it would benefit me but it was such a positive experience to have as a couple. It was so relaxing and supportive, it helped me understand fertility better and helped us refocus as a couple.

I was recommended Ali by a colleague when I had shared that my menstrual cycle was very unpredictable which had become problematic as my husband and I started to try for a baby. I was unsure what to expect from acupuncture but from the very first session Ali made me feel at ease, she really took the time to listen and understand my body and my cycle. Each session she explored where in my cycle I was and then tailored the session to suit this point, making the experience feel unique to me and my body each time.
