About me

Ali Longridge PhD MScAc MBAcC

I have over 20 years experience treating women’s health conditions here in York, and so love that I have been around long enough to support my fertility patients through menopause, and see their babies grow to be teenagers, whom I have helped with period problems before symptoms have had a chance to significantly impact their lives – pure joy!

For most of these years, I practiced from The York Clinic for Integrated Healthcare on Tadcaster Road, recently moving across the river to set up Women’s Health and Fertility Acupuncture in Fulford, York.

I began my studies at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, graduating with an MSc with Distinction, validated by the University of Wales. This led to a PhD scholarship at the University of York, Department of Health Sciences, to study the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of women’s health, with a focus on heavy menstrual bleeding and pain.

Since this time, I have enjoyed extensive post-graduated training in gynaecology, male and female fertility, and pregnancy acupuncture, and continue to evolve my practice in line with the research evidence for acupuncture and advances in nutritional and lifestyle medicine.

Ali has been a great help and support to me over the years. I began to see Ali after a miscarriage and wanted some help for my body and cycle. Ali’s knowledge, treatment and kind manner were invaluable. Since this Ali has supported me through pregnancy (morning sickness & pelvic pains), ailments, fertility and hormonal changes.

I am a Member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) – the UK’s largest, member-led, professional body for traditional acupuncturists.

The BAcC has nearly 3,000 members and is governed by an elected Governing Board and driven by a specialist staff team.

Members belong to an accredited register, regulated and approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health & Social Care (PSA). The PSA protects the public by overseeing the regulation and registration of healthcare professionals – including statutorily regulated professions, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Accredited Registers like the BAcC. This offers a quality mark for high standards of training, safe practice and professional conduct.
